Original with increased contrast
Vector images are mathematical calculations from one point to another that form geometrical shapes. When a raster image is scaled up, it usually loses quality. A raster image can be enlarged by either adding more pixels or enlarging the size of the pixel. Either way you are spreading the original data over a larger area at the risk of losing clarity.

Raster Image: a dot matrix data structure representing a generally rectangular grid of pixels.

Vector Image:graphics is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygons all of which are based on mathematical expressions.

Clone Tool

Created by using the healing brush tool, patch tool and red eye tool.

The Healing Brush tool lets you correct imperfections, causing them to disappear into the surrounding image.

The Patch tool synthesizes nearby content for seamless blending with the surrounding content.

It reduces the amount of saturation of a selected area.

Liquify Filter

Created by using the forward warp tool, pucker tool and, bloat tool

By using the forward warp tool aka smudge tool I was able to give myself a Joker like smile.

The reconstruct tool was useful if you need to re arange an area to how it originally looked

The pucker tool is used to compress a certain area of the image. I used this tool to re design my shirt.

The bloat tool creates the reverse effect of the pucker tool it expands a certain area of the image.

GIF Colors and Quality

GIF 200 Colors

GIF 6 Colors
GIF is not ideal for modern photography, nor image storage. At small sizes with very limited color tables, GIF images can be smaller than JPG files. But at most ordinary sizes, JPG compression will create a smaller image.

JPEG Compression and File Size

For this assignment we experimented with filters in order to figure out how it affects the image size. By reducing the image quality under the SAVE FOR WEB option the size of the file also goes down. Changing the quality of the image changes the texture of the pixels to a more cloudy pixel. By changing adjusting the amount of colors the image becomes sharper or blurrier.

SELECTION TOOLS

Rectangular Marquee Tool: Makes a rectangular selection.

Elliptical Marquee Tool: Makes an elliptical selection
 Lasso Tool: Freeform selection
Magic Wand: Selects pixels based on color
Magnetic Lasso Tool: It acts like a magnet along the edges of a certain area of the image.
Polygonal Lasso Tool: It allows us to easily draw freeform selection outlines based on straight-sided polygonal shapes.

SEMIOTICS LOGO

LOGO SURFACE:

The red bull logo is one of the most recognizable beverage logos in the world. It consists of two red bulls charging against each other in front of a yellowish gold spot.

SYMBOLS:

Two red bulls
A yellow circle/sun

ORIGIN:

The drink and the logo both were created in Thailand for the same purpose it came to America to "give you wings" The name of the drink in native thai translates to red gaur (gaur is an indian bison).

MEANING:

The two bulls represent speed, power, risk-taking, and aggressiveness. The color red can represent: action, adventure, aggression, danger, energy, excitement, love, passion and vigor. The circle could be seen as the sun which we relate to life or energy which  makes sense since the drink is supposed to give you energy/power.

SEMIOTIC CATEGORY:

Indexical: If i had never seen the logo before and was looking at it for the first time I would assume that the product suggests strength. I can almost actually hear the boom! that the two bulls will make after contact.

Iconic: The symbols literally say the name of the brand just by looking at them, two red bulls.

Symbolic: The sign is also symbol because of the yellow circle in the background which most people relate to the sun which we all know represents energy.

SEMIOTICS

SEMIOTICS: The Science of signs that is broken down in three main categories; iconic, indexical, symbolic.

The symbols displayed in this crayon rubbing are the AWC logo and the men's restroom sign. The AWC logo is iconic and indexical. It is indexical because the mountains suggest that it is near mountains or that mountains can be seen from the campus. It is also iconic because it is representing the landscape of Yuma, AZ.

The men's restroom sign is symbolic because t does not represent what we do in the restroom but rather indicates where each gender should go which could mean that it is also indexical.
