I selected the colors that I thought would go well if they were stacked on top of each other. I wanted to make sure that a person looking at this piece would be able to distinguish what I had traced. It actually turned out to look quite interesting. The bathroom man that I traced from the men's bathroom sign looks to be facing a mountain which  is actually the AWC logo. The green color that i used to trace the texture looks like he's standing on a grassy field as he is coming up to the bottom of the mountain. The text that I used read Professor of Fine Arts but i did not trace over the whole text Professor actually kind of looks like profession at first glance and it almost made me think of perhaps an idea for an AWC billboard.

For this crayon rubbing I used a more modern looking AWC logo. After tracing it I realized that the mountains actually have the A and the W on them. It's interesting to see how just tracing something that I see everyday can turn into something else completely. I was surprised that the sun rays that seem to be behind the mountain came out so well. The texture that i used was a palm tree which made  it look like the mountain now had a rocky texture.

Blog Self Introduction

My name is Alex Ortega; I’m 23 years old. I was born in Mexico City and lived there until I was 11. I moved to Atlanta, GA in 2002 and lived there for 12 years. I have only been in Yuma for a year.  I currently work at KAWC as a production assistant and I am a full time student. On my spare time I like playing my guitar and I enjoy writing music. I also enjoy playing soccer whenever I get a chance. 

Major

My major is in Media Arts with an emphasis on Television Production.

Class Goals

I wanted to take this class with the purpose of becoming more familiar with editing tools and just technology in general.

University Goals

After I get my associates degree from AWC I plan on moving back to Atlanta to attend SAE to get an Audio Engineering degree.

Experience with Graphics/Design

I don’t really have much experience in this field, but I work with computers all the time. I also know the basics of coding from CodeAcademy.com

Where Do I see myself in 10 years?

I want to go back to Mexico City at some point after I feel like I have gotten all the experience that I want to get to make movies.

Favorite Vacation Spot

I’ve had the chance to visit a lot of cool cities all over the world but I have to say that one of my favorite spots is the Swiss Alps during the winter. Snowboarding down those massive mountains was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
